The struggle is real. For me as an entrepreneur but more so as an Anishinaabekwe I am constantly working to live in alignment. One thing is for sure, we are handing off the problems and beauty of this home to the next generation.
As we grow, learn, change, I am always trying to re align with my Anishinaabe values to live thinking about the next generation. At Heart Berry we do alot of things with our tiny team. From murals to scholarships we are always realigning ourselves back onto this good and beautiful path. Those of us who work in the design world are faced with daily forks in the road about production, ethics, materials, and what in the hell is it we are doing anyway?? Are we creating the best life for the next generation?

Particularly in this moment as my own children head off onto the trap line as adults I am thinking about the moments that really matter and what role model I am being for them. I am also thinking alot about the timestamps of their life. From their cradleboards, first blankets, moccasins, to their first laugh, I treasure these moments and hold them close to me. As I thought about these relationship and timestamps in our lives, making baby blankets, like making baby moccasins was something I wanted to do RIGHT.

Working with a knitter right on Turtle Island near the great salt water of New York State we have created a series of blankets that we feel good about in our heart and spirit. From idea to design to material to you, this is a blanket you can feel good about. We chose these soft 100% recycled yarns to wrap the next generation in the possibilities of the future. What an ingenious way to live with the world.

Gizhawenimin in our language means "you are loved" more specifically "you are loved by us". In our way of thinking and being every verb is about the relationship.
From our Syllabics blanket to each customizable label to the beautiful keepsake box, we hope the intention we put into this timestamp carries over to you and your loved one.
