Houseofhowes and Fond du Lac Reservation invest in a community cohort of moccasin makers "Makazinikewin"

Over the past three months Houseofhowes artist Sarah Agaton Howes and the Fond du Lac Reservation has been in a Makazinikewin partnership to invest in their community.  In response to high demand and repeated requests, both the Public Health Department, and Community Centers have brought Houseofhowes in to teach Ojibwe Pucker Toe Moccasin Making or "Makazinikewin".   We want to be able to have a moccasin maker in each family.  This is an investment in our community today and tomorrow.  We are building in identity, pride, connection, and community through these Makazinikewin classes.  The look of amazement, pride, and joy these artists have is the greatest reward.  There is ever increasing demand for our traditional teachings here in Fond du Lac and across...

House of Howes Launch Party Blazes into Beaner's Central in Duluth!

As part of the Inspired Native Project the Houseofhowes.com launched with a party at Beaner's Central Music and Coffeehouse in Duluth MN last night.  Together with our Thriving community members,support family, and friends we celebrated this new page in Ojibwe Floral Design.                                                          This exciting new adventure has brought our design aesthetic onto the Tshirts, Iphone Cases, and bags we use everyday. The Launch was a chance to thank the Houseofhowes support system, eat amazing food, enjoy local music, and share with each other.    The Indigenous Women's Running Pack was in full force bring their fierce energy and love. Inspired Natives Ojibwe Floral Product Launches!

What began as making moccasins has become a beautiful new product line.  The collaboration between Louie Gong and the Inspired Natives Project has launched the first Ojibwe Floral hand painted phone cases and earrings.
